Celebrating our Great New England Landscape

We won the following prizes:
* MHS Gold Medal - Educational Information
* MHS Superlative Award for Cut Flowers

This regional garden show attracts people from all over the Northeast.
I.I. members exhibited thirteen ikebana in a tokonoma-like display area on each of the three entry days. In addition, large forms covered with red and green preserved maple leaves were created with the idea of our Flower Show chairperson, Ans Vaatstra, and displayed for the duration of the Show. I.I. members hosted the exhibit for the nine days of the show answering questions and giving membership information.

Three members, Hiroko Matsuyama, Tomoko Tanaka, and Kaye Vosburgh demonstrated ikebana to the public during the Show.

Tetsunori Kawana
* MHS Gold Medal - Special Exhibits

Next to our exhibit, Mr. Tetsunori Kawana, Master Instructor of the Sogetsu headquarters, made an exquisite installation using large bare branches, driftwoods, camellias, forsythias, flowering quinces, and eucalyptus in his arrangement. He gave a marvelous flower demonstration on March 11 during the Show.
