Description
Eikou Sumura, Master Instructor from Japan

It was a spectacular opening of the 2010-2011 season for the Boston Chapter, with a program co-sponsored by the II Boston Chapter and the Massachusetts Branch of Sogetsu. We were honored to have a demonstration by Ms. Eikou Sumura, Sogetsu master teacher from Tokyo, Japan. Ms. Sumura completed eleven arrangements, while doing so, conveying to her audience the joy of arranging flowers and the happy feeling one gets when communicating with them. She also likes to give life to plants that may be common or forgotten.

Her arrangements featured lessons found in the new Sogetsu textbooks and culminated in a fabulous final arrangement where five vases were used, with materials glorifying the vibrant colors of autumn. Everyone felt inspired after this demonstration by such a talented master teacher.

We were also pleased to have the new Japanese Consul General's wife, Hiroko Kozuki, attend this meeting.
