Theme: "A Burst of Color: Celebrating the Container Garden"
I.I. Theme: "A Creative and Fascinating Spring"

After a seemingly endless cold and snowy winter the annual Boston Flower and Garden Show arrived with great anticipation. The beautiful displays of freshly cut flowering branches and brightly colored flowers reminds us that the start of spring is almost upon us.

Members from Sogetsu School, Ikenobo School and Ohara School fielded numerous beautiful arrangements. A group arrangement, designed by Ans Vaatstra, the Chairperson of the Flower Show, consisted of a Mountain Laurel branch painted white and palmetto leaves sprayed painted Yellow/green. Ans also made a smaller complimentary arrangement using the Mountain Laurel branch and dowel rods. President Joanne Caccavale made a floor arrangement using palm spats, oncidium orchids, gloriosa lilies, anthuriums and red rubber tubes. She also made a piece with bamboo and all white flowers dedicating it to the 2011 Tohoku-Pacific Ocean Earthquake/Tsunami victims.

Tomoko Tanaka gave a fabulous demonstration from Sogetsu School.
Twenty-one members served as hostesses answering questions during the Show.

We were honored by a visit from the Consul General of Japan Mr. Takeshi Hikihara during the Show.
