2013 Tower Hill Ikebana Exhibition

The colors of autumn trees were a beautiful setting for our October weekend exhibition at the Tower Hill Botanic Garden. Our members made indoor arrangements in the exhibition rooms and hallways, large floor structures in the larger rooms and open spaces throughout the building and outdoor flower installations. Ikenobo, Ohara and Sogetsu Schools presented grouped arrangements showing the varying styles in each school.
During the three day exhibition our members presented one hour ikebana demonstrations for visitors. President Jorge Padilla-Zamudio and Kathleen Marble gave demonstrations for Ikenobo, Director Tomoko Tanaka and Joanne Caccavale for Sogetsu and Keiko Thayer for Ohara School. For the first time I.I. taught an ikebana lesson for children.
Creative and artistic handmade pottery suitable for ikebana arrangements was presented for sale by five vendors from New England. Great interest was shown and purchases made by visitors and exhibitors.
