Once again, under the auspices of the Massachusetts Horticultural Society I.I. participated in the 2014 Boston Flower & Garden Show. Members from Ikenobo, Ohara, Sogetsu and Ichiyo schools made a total of 31 arrangements in two entries. Each arrangement was a colorful and beautiful creative design displayed on a black pedestal. Special large arrangements were made by three members. Ikenobo President Jorge Padilla-Zamudio made a large stunning Rikka Shimfutai, Flower Show Chair Joanne Caccavale, from the Sogetsu School created an outstanding massing of lines using bamboo and anthurium and Chapter President Madhu Agrawal used a hanging bronze crescent with iris. Our docents reported that the many visitors to our exhibit expressed appreciation at observing the beauty of ikebana and learning how it differs in style from western designs.

Mrs. Tomoko Tanaka, Sogetsu School Director gave a one hour demonstration to Show visitors, creating six beautiful and colorful arrangements. We were honored with a visit by Consul General of Japan, Mr. Akira Muto and Culture and Information Consul, Mr. Masaru Aniya.
