Description
Hiroko Matsuyama, a Sub Grandmaster in the Ohara School presented a beautiful demonstration for II Boston Chapter #17. The lovely spring arrangements included an example of Hana-kanade, a 3 dimensional ikebana that expresses the beauty of materials that cross one another. With beautiful orchids, she created a Bunjin, or Heika in a a tall vase considered one of the two main pillars of the Ohara School. Flowering spring branches were featured in a Rimpa which draws inspiration from pictures on traditional Japanese screens and fans. Ms. Matsuyama created a wonderful Landscape Moribana, a design meant to express the beauty of a natural scene one might chance upon. She concluded her demonstration with “My Flower Frame”, a whimsical and fun freestyle using Bird of Paradise flowers. The demonstration was a beautiful expression of spring and enjoyed by all.
